Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.
A man was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.
The 47 was also questioned about other medication offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be harmful.
"These kinds of items being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their safety.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
